When I (Carolyn) began to write about this experience, I was not sure how I would tell the tale. Through living in and thinking with the story (Frank, 1995), I hoped to learn about the event, myself, my relationship with Art, and loss and trauma. I wanted to understand how and why this experience, which turned out to be minor, had such a profound effect on me, and how I might cope better the next time. I also wanted to think about the story, and I became curious about howothers had viewed this event and how they might tell the story. What might their stories reveal that mine didn’t?
