Most people at my last job seemed to think that I was a good “peacemaker.” There were 2 women from different departments who were constantly quarreling and upsetting everyone in the company. The boss had talked to both of them, but with no good results. I decided I needed to do something before somebody got fired. Over the next month I took both of them out to lunch (separately) and let them pour out their troubles to me. I finally got the 2 of them together over dinner and acted as a neutral go-between in their conversation. Since the, they have been polite and even kind to one another at work. They may never be friends, but at least it eliminated the negative vibes at work. Even theboss noticed and thanked me for fixing a bad situation on my own.
