There are several actors/martial artists whom fans have been aching to headline a Marvel or DC film. As we are way past the hayday of those types of action stars, their predecessors have been relegated to leading DTV films while their Hollywood work tends to consist of supporting roles.
Scott Adkins (DOCTOR STRANGE, HARD TARGET 2) is one such martial artist, and he seems to have decided that if the big studios won't give him his shot, he'll take his own; as he has co-written an adaptation of ACCIDENT MAN, a British comic from the early 90s. Jesse V. Johnson (SAVAGE DOG, THE PACKAGE) is directing.
Here's the synopsis: "Mike Fallon, the Accident Man, is a stone cold killer, whose methodical hits, baffle the police and delight his clients, he is the best at what he does. But when a loved one is dragged into the London underworld and murdered by his own crew, Fallon is forced to rip apart the life he knew in order to hold those accountable and avenge the one person who actually meant something to him." Adkins will be joined by fan-favorite and skilled martial artists, such as Michael Jai White (THE DARK KNIGHT, BLOOD & BONE), Silvio Simac (UNDISPUTED II: LAST MAN STANDING, DOA: DEAD OR ALIVE), Ray Park (G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, X-MEN) stuntwoman Amy Johnston (SUICIDE SQUAD, DEADPOOL) & Ray Stevenson (PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, THE BOOK OF ELI). Ashley Greene (THE TWILIGHT SAGA) was previously cast as Charlie, Fallon's ex-girlfriend's current lover and Tim Man (BOYKA: UNDISPUTED, NINJA: SHADOW OF A TEAR) also has a role.
The tone of the film sounds like a mix between MECHANIC: RESURRECTION & DEADPOOL, which doesn't sound like a bad combo. Adkins, Simac, White & Man have all worked with other variously and they have the talent to make this a top notch comic book film.
