This paper has attempted to resolve these shortcomings of productivity using an LP approach. In particular, through a real case example, we demonstrated that the LP-based performance measures could be used to evaluate strategic manufacturing by assessing, predicting and integrating optimal productivity, quality and flexibility. The case study also introduced an example of the 'productivity paradox' and how IMP could remedy it. Further, the case and various sensitivity analyses demonstrated that manufacturing strategy may be the most important functional strategy, which can maximize a company's business performance by driving other functional strategies such as marketing and finance.
