Communitors and Grinders
Comminutors and grinders are used primarily at
smaller treatment facilities (less than 5 MGD) to
process material between 6 and 19 mm (0.25 to
0.75 in) (WEF, 1998). This shredded material
remains in the wastewater and is removed in
downstream treatment processes.
