Developing Risk Communication
Risk assessment is highly technical and not without controversy. The communication of the results is di‰cult and decisions made as a result of a risk assessment could be controversial. As noted above, the 1983 NRC depiction did not include a risk communication component. Because of the complexities of a risk assessment, the uncertainty of the results, and the large stakes involved in the decisions, distrust may arise among the various stakeholders and risk analysis professionals.
