The method proposed herein provided

The method proposed herein provided values for Ng of rigid footings placed adjacent to the slope comparable with those provided by the previous studies for a wide range of slope angle ``a'' including a special case of horizontal ground (a＝0). Empirical equations for the values of correction factor ``hs'' which takes into account the eŠect of `a' on the values `Ng' were obtained using the analytical results. This equation is a generalized form of that proposed by Vesic (1973, 1975) and Hansen (1970).
