With the intention of examining a full range of impacts, this work defines a social impact broadly as any effect on human livelihood by activities in the supply chain. Although it would be unrealistic to comprehensively cover every social impact that exists, this assessment encompassed labor concerns, health and safety issues for laborers and their surrounding communities, and consumers and their surrounding communities. The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) Social-Life Cycle Analysis (SLCA) Guidelines list of subcategories provided guidance, but the research was not limited exclusively to the themes listed (Benoit and Mazijn, 2009). This study aims to access both the negative and positive implications of mobile phone use today.
