Marefat et al. (2004) have conducted load tests on a decommissioned plain concrete railway arch bridge. In their work, static and dynamic load tests have been carried out to evaluate the remaining strength of the arch bridge. The test results showed that all parts of the arch bridge, such as arch, spandrel wall, fill layer, pier, foundation, and ballast layer, contributed to the structural resistance. The structural behavior and cracking pattern from their study indicated that the masonry bridge acted like a continuous multilayered structure rather than an arch form.
