Pre-iridal fibrovascular membranes are a key component of a broad array of veterinary ophthalmic diseases such asretinal detachment, various intraocular neoplasms, chronic glaucoma, intraocular hemorrhage, endophthalmitis, perfo- rated corneal ulcers, and ocular trauma.1 PIFMs were the most common secondary abnormality identified in canine and feline eyes with iridociliary epithelial tumors (in 60 of 117 cases).2 Lens-induced uveitis is associated with perilen- ticular fibroplasia and PIFMs that line the iris and form synechiae.3,4 Intraocular complications of PIFMs include hyphema, eversion or inversion of the pupillary margin, pos- terior synechiae, peripheral anterior synechiae, occlusion of the iridocorneal angle, and glaucoma.1,5
