Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is planning to close its auction for its HERE Maps business next week on Friday, and it will make its final decision the following Monday, according people familiar with the company's line of thinking.
Top bidders for HERE were recently said to include a group consisting of Uber, Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU), and Apax,, while Tencent, Navinfo, and EQT are also partnering on a potential offer. Several German auto manufacturers, including BMW, may look to acquire the unit and Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN) is also said to be involved in the process.
Recent reports suggested the unit may be worth as much as $4 billion.
