Our observations between the insurers and salvage agents demonstrates, the ability of firms to work together to plan and deliver a RL system was
demonstrated. The two case studies presented information which supports the stance
that RL systems and SGCS can be designed and proactively implemented. Through
gaining an understanding of the current governance structure that is operating and
determining the governance that is appropriate to establish a RL operation, managers
start planning for implementation. Our six RL codes provide an insight into how firms
can migrate from one SGCS to another. Developing a RL system has been shown be
more than a question of reversing the flow of products and processes. Practitioners
need to consider the impact of the reverse flow on the capabilities of firms to manage
the increased complexity of transactions as well as the governance structure required
to support the decisions that will ensure the long-term viability of the collaboration.
