Nursing students in the simulation group showed significant improvements in knowledge, physical assessment skills, psychologicalcare skills, and self-confidence related to EOL care. The experience ofcooperating with SPs, which is unlike a classroom case study discussionor role-playing with classmates, provided undergraduate nursing students with opportunities to experience provision of realistic and practical EOL care. An EOL care simulation that incorporates interactionswith SPs may therefore be an effective and useful educational approachfor supplementing opportunities for nursing students to care for actualpatients at the EOL stage. The EOL care simulation enhanced the integration of didactic content into a clinical setting and helped studentsto learn about EOL care in a way that may encourage them to applytheir learning to future clinical practice. An EOL care simulation istherefore an effective way to provide all students with similar learningexperiences to meet expected learning objectives.
