It is often useful to communicate your data visually, presenting your results in a table or a figure. Many of the general points we have made about writing about empirical matters also apply when you are communicating with tables and figures. The clear exposition of your findings is the goal: "The greatest possibilities of visual display lie in the vividness and inescapability of the intended message." In particular, you should use your tables and figures explicitly to communicate specific substantive points and to communicate both effects and uncertainty.
