Besides the observation of fast renal clearance (Fig. 3A and Fig. S8†), the liver area started to become visible at 3 h p.i. and reached the maximum intensity at 7 h p.i.; then, it gradually disappeared at 10 h p.i., which further confirmed the excretion of AuGNPs from the liver.
