Corporate Warehouse Deliveries: General Guidelines
Content date: 4-06-15
Requirements
All packaging and labeling must be approved prior to shipping your inventory to L.L.Bean. Your packaging must identify and protect the product from becoming soiled or damaged. Any deviation from the requirements stated in this manual will result in an L.L.Bean inspection of your entire shipment. You will be responsible for all costs associated with rework to correct your shipment before it is entered into our system. (see Chargeback policy).
Environmental Concerns
When developing packaging for your product, please consider environmental issues and the opportunity to reduce packaging-related waste. Use recycled materials where possible. Where appropriate, eliminate interior packaging or wrapping material, provided it can be done without compromising the safety of the product in order to prevent damage. All packaging materials must be reusable, recyclable or suitable for waste-to-energy facilities.
If your packaging or product includes any environmental claims or statements, these claims will need to be substantiated with documentation provided by the Vendor.
Please place proper recycling symbols on all packaging materials so consumers will dispose of them appropriately. Plastic packaging materials are to be marked with the appropriate resin identifier code (see Unit Packing Materials).
Legal Compliance
These guidelines do not eliminate the vendor’s responsibility to ensure that the labeling, packaging, box markings, legal shipping documents, and palletizing strictly comply with all applicable international, federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to compliance with all laws and regulations regarding hazardous, toxic and carcinogenic substances and labeling requirements relating thereto, including, (but not limited to) the Model Toxics in Packaging Legislation, and corresponding State Legislation, California’s proposition 65, FDA regulations, Japan Law 112, EU (94/62EC), and carrier classifications governed by, (but not limited to), the national Motor Freight Classification, Uniform Freight Classification, the Code of Federal Regulations and the Department of Transportation. Vendor will provide a Certificate of Compliance upon request.
