文献检索是科学研究的组成部分。科学研究首先是从课题调研掌握资料起步的。文献检索有助于掌握本课题研究的进展动态，开拓思路、避免重复劳动，把研究水平提到新的高度。科研成果的评估与鉴定，也需要通过信息检索--资料的查新活动，才能作出正确的结论。分析了文献检索和管理对科研能力培养的重要性，指出在研究生科研的各个环节都离不开文献的检索以及导师在研究生文献检索和管理能力培养过程中发挥的积极作用，提出了进行研究生文献检索和管理教学的措施，以确保文献检索和管理能力的培养服务于研究生科研工作。针对文献检索在培养科研能力的重要性，围绕培养科研分类能力、科研想象能力、科研分析综合能力、科研探究能力等四个方面进行了全面系统探索。
