By now, the scientific and academic activities upon the first item "Information systems, programming and controlling technologies" are conducted by 12 leading departments of the University ITMO as well as by the Research Institute of Advanced Computer Technologies, Institute of Computerized Telecommunication Networks of the Higher Education Institutions (VuzTelecomCenter), Research & Design Centers "Optical Information Technologies and systems" and "Information Optical Technologies".

The scientific and academic activities upon the second item ’’Optical and laser systems, materials and technologies" are conducted by 16 leading departments of the University ITMO and by the Research Institute of Nanophotonics and Opto- informatics as well as by the Research & Design Centers "Optical Information Technologies and systems", "Information Optical Technologies" and "RUSSAR".

In addition, the first direction "Information systems, programming and controlling technologies” is supported by three scientific research centers (SRC):

SRC 1:
"Intellectual systems of controlling and information processing”
SRC 2:
"Programming technologies and artificial intellect"
SRC 3：
"Technologies of high capacity computing and systems”
