We performed research on nuclear distribution of multinuclear fungus. During that research, we failed twenty more rounds of co-culture, with different experimental conditions. I could recall those days when I struggled to pull myself out of the bed every morning, walked along the footpath to embrace the dark, bleak, winter crepuscule, only the Venus high hung, my footsteps echoed. We almost gave up. However, just then, I read about an article referring to how Mendel experimented with 28,000 plants in seven years and how Morgan managed to find a white-eyed mutant fruit fly during three years of his work when preparing for my presentation on Foundations of Genetics. I couldn’t help thinking we should also keep on going. And finally, we did get transformants.
