Content date: 4-03-12
L.L.Bean's standard shippers load, stow and count procedures are as follows:
1.All bookings must be made with Century Distribution Systems (CDS) via Century Visibility Management Systems (VMS). All Purchase Orders (PO) must be approved by Century Visibility Management System (VMS). POs without prior approval should not be loaded.
2.Century Distribution Systems will issue vendors a "Booking Confirmation" after L.L.Bean's nominated carrier confirms space and booking. The booking confirmation will confirm for the vendor the carrier, empty container pick-up location, required delivery cut-off, manifest information cut-off requirements, ETD/ETA details and note any Fish & Wildlife (F&W) items.
3.Vendor is responsible for cleaning up any dirt inside the container before loading goods into it.
4.7-Point Container Inspection: Vendors must institute procedures to verify the physical integrity of the container structure prior to stuffing and include the reliability of the locking mechanisms of the doors. A 7-point inspection process is recommended for all containers. Vendor must complete, sign and submit the attached 7-Point Container Inspection Check List [doc] to CDS with commercial documents.
5.Refer to the Shipping Container Load Sequence procedure to understand the expected sequence of loading by channel (Corporate/Direct or Retail). •Non-compliance to factory load procedures may result in a chargeback (see Chargeback Non-Compliance Expense: Transportation policy).
6.L.L.Bean in Freeport, Maine, has several distribution centers: •Casco Building - code CC
•Pre-Pack Fulfillment - code PP
•Brunswick Manufacturing - code BM
7.Container Security. Container integrity must be maintained to protect against the introduction of unauthorized material and/or persons. At point of stuffing, procedures must be in place to properly seal and maintain the integrity of the shipping containers. A high security seal must be affixed to all loaded containers bound for the U.S.A. All seals must meet or exceed the current PAS ISO 17712 standards for high security seals (see Vendor Factory Security C-TPAT Guidelines ).
8.After the container is loaded, vendor must provide the load sequence, from nose to tail, for each container to the forwarder in a timely manner.
9.If the actual shipped volume is less than the booked volume, you may be liable for a chargeback by L.L.Bean (see Chargeback Non-Compliance Expense: Transportation policy).
