This management avoids periods of milk accumulation that are too long during the night; daily milk yields are reduced by −2.4, −4.1, and −8.4% with 6.5:17.5, 5:19, and 4:20 intervals, respectively, when compared with 10:14 to 11:13 milking intervals (Ichikawa and Fujishima, 1982; Rémond et al., 2009; Dutreuil et al., 2016).
