Two Views of Curriculum Integration. Taba offered two views of curriculum inte- gration. The first view is the one we have been discussing: the horizontal relationship of subjects. In addition, said Taba, "Integration is also defined as something that happens to an individual. If we follow the second view, "The problem, then, is that of developing ways of helping individuals in this process of creating a unity of knowledge. This inter- pretation of integration throws the emphasis from integrating subjects to 1 tegrative threads.Regardless of whether the subject matter is presented to the learner in an integrated fashion by the teacher, the learner must integrate the knowledge into his or her own be- havior. The distinction between an educated and an erudite person lies in the degree to which knowledge is integrated in the person.
