Using ‘My Bathtime Picture Cards’ show him Card 2 with the picture of the bath filling with water. Go to your bathroom and turn on the taps and tell your child to “listen”. Say the word “listen” with acoustic highlighting, making the word easier and more interesting for your child to hear. Turn the taps off and point to your ear and tell him you can’t hear the water anymore. Repeat this a few times until the tub is full enough for his bath.• Show your child Card 5. The little boy is playing with a variety of toys while taking a bath. Choose a few toys for your child to play with and have him listen before you give him the toy. If the toy squeaks, tell your child to ‘listen’ then squeeze it and point to your ear. Let your child squeeze the toy and shows excitement when you hear the sound. If the toy doesn’t make a sound, you can make the sound that is associated with that toy. Ask your child to listen, make the sound and then show your child the toy. Take turns with your child making the sound and playing with the toy. Remember to stop talking and wait during your child’s turn. Your expectant look and silence is a cue for your child to take a turn and make the sound himself.• Make a variety of sounds from the list according to the goal. Each time you make a new sound, gain your child’s attention and tell him to listen. Once he has heard the sound, let him make the sound himself. You can play a guessing game by asking your child to make one of the sounds while you have your eyes closed and then guess which sound was made. After you play this game a few times, your child might like to close his eyes and try to guess the sound you made.
