Isn't that the entire premise of Uncanny Avengers? Cap's mutant Avenger team, trying to patch things up after AvX?28soulreaverdanX-Men Expert2yYes, that was the premise. It failed. Hilariously. The Unity Squad, at least pre-Secret Wars, was an absolute joke of an attempt to make people get along, with Cap constantly usurping Havok's nominal leadership, constantly dismissing the mutant members' concerns over things, immediately taking sides against Logan for his actions on X-Force, and of course, Havok himself and the infamous M-Word Speech.Duggan's run has been doing a much better job of them working together, although they only really got at their best once Steve was off the team.14[deleted]2yI did not like that M-word speech at all. But I did love Kitty's response to it.I mostly avoided Uncanny Avengers. I had just come back to comics at the time (I heard Spider-Man was dying and was very excited about it), and felt that I couldn't read 4 sets of Cap stories (Avengers, Captain America, UA, and New Avengers [for a few issues]).4soulreaverdanX-Men Expert2yKitty's response to it is by far one of my favorite pages in comics. As someone who's also Jewish, I really felt what she was saying and the motivations behind it. I actually have that page in a frame (alongside Hope's transformation from X-Force and the wedding of Scott and Jean).UA was a pretty good run (aside from the M-Word issue), and I enjoyed the Apocalypse Twins arc. But as the stated premise of the Unity Squad, it failed absolutely. However, like I said, the new run, especially after the Standoff issues, has been an incredible story. Some of the best Deadpool writing since Bunn, the team's interactions feel a lot more natural, and they really do feel like a group coming from all walks working together:Steve (OG Avengers)Deadpool (Kinda unaligned)Rogue (X-Men)Doctor Voodoo (Magic)Synapse (Inhumans)Johnny Storm (Fantastic Four)Cable (More X-Men)Wasp (More OG Avengers)Quicksilver (Avengers/X-Men/Mutants/Whatever-they-are-now)It feels like a much more organically made mixed bag of characters than the Remender run, which was basically a bunch of mutants and Avengers trying to get along.Read More7See repliesAGuyWithARaygunRocketeer2yWhat was Kitty's response?
