(ii)Situation 2 : Joining of carbon steel to SS by M303G and the joint is large - Here chance of galvanic corrosion is there between SS weld ( cathode ) and CS anode – but the chance of corrosion is minimised as generally the anode area of CS is same or more than the cathode area SS Weld. In SS side the base metal and weld metal , both are made with SS - hence the potential difference is nil or very less and galvanic corrosion should not happen much ( FIG 4 ).
