Merry Christmas to our dear borrowed granddaughter from last year.
How we have missed you this holiday season. Beth brought your email message to us at Thanksgiving and we enjoyed your beautiful reflections of our wonderful time together a year ago. Thank you so much for your wonderful words and heartfelt reflections. You are a great writer.
As we ate our turkey and mashed the potatoes, I was reminded of how you were at my side mashing and stirring and sampling the good food. It was such fun sharing the traditions with you and appreciated your love of sweets and other American food. This year I added a chocolate and whipped cream pie to our Christmas menu so hope everyone loves it as much as you would.
Think of you so often and imagine it is so good being with your family again this year after such a long absence. I hope you are continuing with your beautiful piano talent and will always remember the concert you provided for me in Matt's home on our old piano. You have so many gifts you were born with and certainly music and art are things I hope you are able to continue sharing with others. Your talents are many.
As I sit in my office typing this I look up at the little bedroom where you stayed and wished you would jump out of the car later today when Matt and family arrive and Jill and family join us as well. We had 14 inches of snow last night and lots of blowing wind so I wrote emails to the families to bring sleds, snow pants and mittens so they can make snow angels in the snow. Our Lake Kegonsa has not frozen yet and the geese are loud and getting ready to migrate soon. I will miss watching them, but of course I have my ducks to feed and watch.
I made a lot of Christmas cookies this year and peanut brittle and wish you were here to sample everything. I remember how fun it was to get to have you return at Christmas and we are so grateful you allowed us to adopt you while you were here in America. I do hope your college plans will be in the U.S. and that we can have you visit again. You are a remarkable young woman who brought us such joy with your gifts of laughter and eagerness to learn. I will always remember your visit to the farm and feeding the calves. What a fun day we had.
Thank you again for your gifts you left and the precious message. Although you are not here in person this year, your spirit will be celebrated with our family as you will always be one of us. May God bless you and your family. Please stay in touch and I will do the same.
