We assigned the patents to the technology architecture categories and sectors as shown in Fig. 3. The wide spread of SIC codes across different fields—five first-digit differences—indicates how different the LIB TIS’s sectors are. Furthermore, Fig. 3 illustrates how the technology architecture categories relate to the sectors’production activities (shown in green).
