Imagine if your favorite chocolate was suddenly smaller and looked different. This is why many British chocolate lovers are upset.
Toblerone has been a favorite since it was first sold in Switzerland in 1868. But because the cost of ingredients (原料) in the United Kingdom is rising, the bar has changed.
Now when English people buy the chocolate, they get a 360-gram bar instead of a 400g one or a 150g bar instead of a 170g one.
The shape (形状) of the chocolate is different too, and many people are unhappy. The bar’s famous triangles (三角) are now thinner and there is a bigger gap (缺口) between them.
“It looks dreadful (糟糕的). I think you should’ve reduced the length and kept the chunky triangles,” British consumer Cathy White wrote on Toblerone’s Facebook page.
“It looks like you are getting half the chocolate,” another customer Philip Joseph said.
In a statement on the Toblerone Facebook page, the company said it had to make a decision between changing the look of the bars and raising the price.
The statement said that they needed to make two of their bars in the UK smaller. They said otherwise they would have to stop selling it, or completely change the triangular shape of the bar.
Would you keep eating your favorite chocolate if the producer made it smaller and changed its shape?
