She hopped off the seat with a graceful bounce and a happy giggle. It seemed like she was really enjoying herself. Maybe she was reveling in the thoughts of how she had just fooled us all. It must be so satisfying to perplex the audience so much. It must give her a sense of accomplishment. She made her way through the aisle back towards the stage, walking slowly enough for everyone to watch her as she waved to them and said hellos. She played the audience and soaked up their attention. She walked back on stage and took her bow, concluding the trick.
Stage hands came out onto the stage to change the set. They were preparing new props. Many magic tricks involved props. New props being set up meant, it was time for the next trick. The magician announced that volunteers would be needed for the next illusion. The magician and his assistant came down into the audience to pick out volunteers. The magician picked a man from the front row and took him away from a woman sitting next to him. By way of introductions, he made it known to the audience that this man took his girlfriend to this show, but that the magician needed to borrow this man from his girlfriend for the next trick.
My heart skipped a beat as the magician's assistant walked up the aisle, closer and closer to me. She made eye-contact with me, and she seemed to smile shyly again. I knew she was going to choose me. I tried to suppress my inner excitement. She walked closer and closer until she was right in front of me. I looked over her entire body, admiring and enving her beauty all at once. She ran her one hand down her side and leg, and put out her other hand, inviting me to take a hold of her hand. I reflexively took her hand even before she asked me if I'd like to be a volunteer. I couldn't contain my excitement. Of course, I'd love to volunteer. She turned around and led me by the hand onto the stage. From behind, I couldn't help but think how lucky she is to have such a shapely back.
We were all introduced on stage. I learned that the magician's assistant's name was Veronica. The magician turned our attention to a familiar prop at the back of the stage. He announced that we would be performing the world famous illusion, the sawing a woman in half illusion. He asked me if I had ever taken part in a magic trick before. I said no. He then asked me if I would go ahead and lie down inside the box. I didn't know what to do. I looked over at the box hesitantly and I smiled nervously. I think he was taunting me, and after the audience had a good laugh at my hesitation, he finally let me off the hook. It was going to be his assistant who would be sawn in half, not me. The audience had another good laugh as I breathed a sigh of relief.
The magician wanted us to inspect the box. I opened the box, half expecting to find the secret, but knowing that more than likely, I wouldn't be able to find it. The inside of the box was empty. Veronica told me that I could check inside and outside the box to my heart's content. I couldn't find anything underneath the table, nor anything inside the box. I wanted to find a compartment in the floor or walls of the box, but there was just nothing.
