4.Put suitable size electrolytic copper blocks ( item 6 - in sketch ) to cover the two open sides of the joint. Since the heat moves very fast through electrolytic copper , copper will not be fused when it comes in contact with molten weld and thus will not get welded with steel rail and SS weld and will maintain the proper shape of weld as per shape of the original rail during the progress of welding from bottom to top. The profile of the copper blocks should be similar to rail profile so that the blocks can properly and adequately cover the open sides of the rail. The copper blocks can be placed from bottom to top of rail progressively based on the progress of the weld from bottom to top.
