All Apple users must be familiar with this name, Steve Jobs. This man dropped out from university and co-founded the legendary Apple company at 21, but had to resign from it because of divergence with other managerial staff. He didn’t quit, but continued to found other companies which brought him back to Apple afterwards. Jobs is considered as a sucessful person and even a genius.
In his well-known speech at Stanford University, he told students three stories of his personal experience. The second story is about success. After he resigned from Apple, Jobs felt rather lost and depressed for some time. But he still loved what he did. It was this idea that inspired him to start NeXT and Pixar and eventually led to his success. He encouraged young people to never stop figuring out what they love and devote themselves to that career. Do what you love and love what you do, this is the only way to do great work.
Indeed, it is easier for one to succeed when he is engaged in something he is passionate for. The reason is that when he is studying or working out of interest, he won’t feel bored or exhausted. Instead, he will try his best to fulfill it wonderfully and efficiently. In turn, the sense of achievement will make him happy and stimulate him to reflect and do it better next time. In reality, however, many people don’t know what they are truly interested in. They just take the advice of their parents or teachers, choose a major which can help them find a good job and then choose a job which fits in with this major. It is a waste of their lives. I think all of us should listen to Jobs’s speech, feel his passion and continue to find what we love.
