4. Conclusions
Carrageenan-based wound healing hydrogel !lms were prepared by incorporating SNP and GSE and cross-linking with CuCl2. The me- chanical and physical properties, biocompatibility, antibacterial and wound healing properties of the hydrogel !lms were evaluated. SNP and GSE synergistically increased the optical properties of the hydrogel !lms, as well as their high WVP, swelling ratio and porosity. Chitosan capping greatly enhanced SNP biocompatibility for the L929 cell line and provided signi!cant cell viability in Carr/GSE/SNP1% and Carr/ GSE/SNP3% hydrogel !lms. In particular, the Carr/GSE/SNP3% hy- drogel !lm showed full-thickness wound healing e#cacy in Sprague- Dawley rats in a short time. The carrageenan-based hydrogel !lms re- inforced with SNP and GSE are likely to be used as reliable wound dressing materials. However, in order to understand the mode of action of SNP on wound healing, in-depth studies of wound healing of Carr/ GSE/SNP hydrogel !lms through preclinical testing are needed.
Acknowledgments
This work was supported by the R&D Convergence Center Support Program of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Republic of Korea (ARC 710013-03).
