All of the collected adult insects from the kill jar or net can be placed directly into the 80% ETOH solution. Vials containing the insects should be appropriately labeled. The labeling of evidence containers for entomological samples is conducted differently from that of most other items of physical evidence. One of the major differences is that the labels for entomological evidence are written in pencil, not ink! the80% ETOH and many other solutions for the preservation of entomological evidence will remove the ink from the paper.
