After the RDF data is created, a project team can begin publisping the data to the open web, which involves more than simply uploading files to a server. As emphasized by Hyland,Atemezing, and Villazon-Terrazas (2014)and Berners-Lee(2006), it is important to associate an open data license with your linked data set so that users clearly understand the terms of use, even if there are no restrictions at all. There are several popular open licenses available from Creative Commons and Open Data Commons that would be appropriate for linked data sets, including the Creative Commons' CCO license(http://creativecommons.org/about/cc0), Open Data Common's ODC-BY (http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/byn,and ODbL (http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl)1icenses. Creative Commons' CCO license was selected for the NCSU ONLD in order to coordinate licensing terms with the GOKb project to better facilitate integration of our linked data efforts down the road.
