Writing a good methodology section requires considerable good judgment. The description of the author's methods should be so complete that a reader could exactly reproduce the study if he chose to do so. At the same time, you do not want to lose your reader in a sea of minutiae. If an extremely detailed description of a study's methodology is necessary, consider including it as a separate appendix. That way, the logical flow of the paper is not interrupted with a lengthy methodology section, but interested persons can consult the appendix for the details.
