I will be 58 on August 2014 and have been teaching for 32 years. I am currently an HOD / MTL and have been so for 22 years. I am glad to be able to serve so many years in the education service.
Unfortunately, over the past few years, I was conscious that my strength was failing and affects my performance. Leading a team of teachers has been rewarding but must be energized is not an easy task. Due to physical decline, I have been experiencing much stress and emotional tension. In addition, the rapid changes in teaching technique and new initiatives implemented by the MOE are a challenge for me.
I had hoped to be able to serve the school until the retirement age and continue to make contribution to the school and help the pupils to achieve a better grade in the GCE Exam. However, in view of my current condition, I think it is hard for me to realize my wish, which not only makes me feel very discouraged, but also live up to the expectations of the school. After much consideration, I decided to apply for early retirement, with effect from 1st January 2015.
