We sampled numerous prosauropod post-cranialbones, concentrating on limb and girdle bones ofPlateosaurus from the German locality of Trossingenand the Swiss locality of Frick (Sander 1992), but alsofrom the basal prosauropod Thecodontosaurus from theLate Triassic of England (Benton et al.2000 ).Techniquesemployed for sampling the prosauropod boneswere mainly coring and high-resolution digital photographyof fracture surfaces (not possible with the Frickmaterial because of a mineral cover on the fracturesurfaces).
