Hello,
We are going to start serializing with QR codes what we make. This code would be 000000-000000 (first part date mmddyy “-“ six digit code that counts up from zero and restarts everyday). Today’s first board would be “080416-000001”
Can you guys check on the following:
1) Can the board houses silk screen QR codes on boards?
2) If they don’t have the ability to sequence in screening, can they all do etching?
3) Can the board house give us any other options and picture examples of their work?
4) Is there 1 method all our board houses do so we can standardize?
5) Is a simple note in a Gerber giving position all that is required?
From Fairway Whiting:
1) Do they have a laser etcher already?
2) Do they have heat sensitive label makers?
3) What is the smallest the label maker goes to?
4) Does Andy have any other recommendations?
The idea is to begin as soon as possible. We might rely on Fairway until we get this going at the board houses and existing board inventory. I know some parts might not be able to have room or have some other limitation. Worse case the packaging gets the code. We can deal with best work around as it comes up.
Thanks, Rolf
