On the basis of field and numerical investigations involving the load deformational response under static loads and time history of response of deformations and strains for known moving loads, it is observed that the arch bridge is capable of carrying the proposed enhancement of a 245-kN (25-t) axle load. The studies indicated that a margin of safety of about 1.8 (crown displacement) over and above the code margins for a 245-kN axle load was available under various loading scenarios.
