The data warehouse architecture selection decision is a subset of ITinfrastructure (ITI) design. Currently, the academic literature containsonly limited research on ITI design [21,87] and typically presentsfindings from case studies or offers anecdotal recommendations[10,85]. A recent article [68], one of the few empirical studies on ITIinfrastructure, analyzes current practices in data warehouse implementationmethodologies but does not explicitly describe factors thatinfluence architecture selection. Another exploratory study [58] ondata warehousing identifies a list of organizational factors thatinfluence data warehousing refresh policies but does not examinehow these factors influence data warehouse design.
