In the present study, we used two different types of FBG sensors. Coated and bare FBG sensors were embedded in cross-ply andquasi-isotropic-ply carbon fiber/epoxy composite material, and the strains measured by the bare FBG and MCFBG sensors during thecuring process were studied. Moreover, we primarily focused on the capabilities of MCFBG sensors, i.e., their strain monitoringcapability for composite structures. The MCFBG sensors could monitor the cross-ply and quasi-isotropic-ply carbon fiber/epoxycomposite material in real time. Thus, their capability for strain monitoring in composite structures was verified.
