For both versions of hard laddering

For both versions of hard laddering, the initial question posed for the first list (attributes) was ‘‘If I were to choose a breakfast for my child, it is important that it...’’. The succeeding lists were preceded by the statement ‘‘...and this is important for me, because then my child...’’. Participants were asked to select up to three important attributes or consequences, with a minimum of one attribute to be chosen initially. Trained interviewers (including authors AB, IF, CGR) explained to the participants how to complete the tasks using a nonfood example.
