Pursuing potential abroad. There is a two-way relationship between having overseas players at Spurs and being able to reach (including convert) supporters overseas. For example, when Tottenham acquired Israeli international, Ronnie Rosenthal, in the 1980s, interest in Spurs from Israel increased significantly. The same with interest from Bulgaria when Tottenham acquired Bulgarian international, Dimitar Berbatov in 2006. Social media, both by Spurs itself, and by the individual players, enables the club to leverage its marketability beyond what is possible using more traditional marketing tools, including e-mail and websites.
