Communications and Sensor Port Wiring
Below are the jack connections for weather stations (both 2000 Series and original). The order is
Left to Right as you are facing the RJ11/RJ14/RJ25 jacks on the module. The numbers (1-6) are
listed to match the standard position identifier, as per the images of the jack and the connector.

* RTS is generally connected only for Short-Range Modem Pair and cellular modems
RTS is raised 10msec before any communications and stays up until communications are terminated. RTS
is raised 80msec prior to autosends of current condition information.
Weather Station and Data Logger Jacks
3.5mm Computer/PC Jack
Tip – Receive by station (RX)
Ring – Transmit from station (TX)
Base – Ground
(On a weather station, if the plug is in the jack, the TX and RX lines are disconnected on the AUX port)
2.5mm Sensor Jacks
Tip (red wire) – Signal output from sensor
Ring (white wire) – Excitation voltage to sensor (+3-5V, WatchDogs use +3.0V)
Base (shield or black wire) – Ground
(Rain sensors read 100 ohms tip to base when tipping, ring is unused)
(Right-angle plugs on rain loggers have tip=white and red/ring unused)
