SA Water standard sewerage service to customers is the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater from normal domestic activities and from staff and office amenities such as toilets, showers and tearooms. It prohibits the discharge of any other material into the sewerage system.Customers wishing to discharge any other wastewater (such as trade waste) to SA Waters sewerage system must first apply to SA Water for specific authorisation. This requirement includes new operators taking over an existing business, even if that business held a valid authorisation.SA Water requires this because trade waste could upset normal operations, and harm its workers, infrastructure, public health or the environment. Trade waste is any wastewater and substances contained within it, arising from any commercial, industrial, business, trade or manufacturing activity, which is discharged from a property internal sewer connected to our sewerage system.Whenever it is reasonable and practical to do so, SA Water will convey, treat and dispose of trade waste from authorised dischargers.
