The OECD 308 protocol provides a high level assessment of the disposition and biodegradation of a test material in a water/sediment system. Test endpoints provided depletion of test material from the water and sediment phases, and from the test system itself. The data are helpful in demonstrating its overall biodegradability, and in its application in classification schemes that define whether something is persistent based on its overall depletion, as defined in the European Chemical Bureau Technical Guidance Document (20).
