Many years ago on a cold snowy New Year’s Eve, a poor little girl was wandering around on the street shivering, trying to sell her matches so she could buy something to eat.
However, nobody seemed to see her matches so she could buy something to eat.
No one stopped and bought her matches. She could not endure the cold air anymore, so the little girl burst into tears and lit one of her matches. She was trying to keep warm.
Suddenly, she thought she saw a fireplace. But when she stretched her frozen feet towards it, the fire suddenly disappeared.
The little girl lit another match. This time, she saw a table full of food and drinks.
But when she tried to reach it, the food suddenly disappeared.
The poor little girl was shocked, so she struck another match.
This time, she found herself in a warm room sitting under a beautiful Christmas tree.
As the tree began to disappear, the little girl was panic and quickly lit her very last match.
She saw her much-loved grandmother waving at her.
“Don’t leave me grandma! Let me come with you!” the little girl cried.
The old lady heard and wrapped her arms around the poor little girl and together they flew away into the sky. The next morning, many people saw the little girl’s frozen body lying on the street.
As people were weeping silently, they saw a warm smile on the little girl’s face.
The little girl had gone to a match better place to spend her New Year’s Day.
