Xiaomi is slated to launch the Mi 5 early next year, and it looks like the phone will be the first from the Chinese vendor to feature a physical home button, which will house a fingerprint sensor.
It was initially rumored that the Mi 5 would come with Qualcomm's ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which can be directly embedded in the display. However, it looks like that may not be the case, as the vendor is allegedly wary of stability issues with the scanner. That would explain the presence of the physical home button.
As for the handset itself, a recent teaser suggests that we'll see a Force Touch display. Rumored specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the device is expected to offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The latest leaks suggest we'll see an official launch on January 21, with availability from February. There are indications that we'll also see a Plus variant of the handset with a larger screen.
