The difference between the two labels is simply the paper on which they are written. The first label is written on plain paper, generally 1 × 3 in (2.5 × 7.5 cm). This label is placed directly inside of the vial with the insect samples immersed in 80% ETOH (Figure 3.22a and b). The second label is written on adhesive paper stock and affixed to the outside of the specimen container (Figure 3.23a). A vial with dual labels is completed for each area of insect colonization (Figure 3.23b). Precut address labels are generally used for this purpose.
