According to some high-tech textile designers, the new question in textiles is what can fabrics do for us. A recent trade show had a variety of forthcoming fabrics on display. The show-stopping fabric was made by Dubar-Warneton, a company that produces an illuminated fabric that can be used for safety clothing. There are new materials that help clean clothes, destroy bacteria, defy gravity, resist slashes to butcher's gloves, and that are so strong they can even keep buildings safe during earthquakes, control explosions, and hold in tremendous amounts of weight.
